Back in 2006, Cargo’s PlantLove lipstick premiered in a tube made entirely of corn. Its carton biodegraded, leaving flower seeds in the earth.
TPR, a New York-based investor and operator of beauty and consumer brands, which has also provided transition services for large consumer products companies including Shiseido Cosmetics and Procter & Gamble, has added Cargo Cosmetics to its portfolio.

“Cargo is a leading brand trusted by professional makeup artists and real women. We look forward to once again bringing the types of groundbreaking formulas and first-to-market technologies that put the brand on the map to consumers worldwide,” said Brian Robinson, president of TPR.

Cargo’s founder Hana Zalzal, who will remain with the company as creative director, commented: “I am truly excited to align with a company like TPR that is able to provide valuable resources to further expand Cargo, while still maintaining the brand’s heritage, integrity and my creative vision.”
